The principle of bone conduction

The word may sound scary, yet on the contrary, this technology can change your life! The principle of bone conduction is a new technology of its kind, in fact, sound is transmitted by vibration and not directly inside the ear.

An ambassador of choice for this technology

One of the first to use it was none other than the famous musician Ludwig van Beethoven, who wanted to continue playing music. He had for that placed a conductive rod on his piano which he clamped between his teeth, the vibrations were then transmitted to his jaw and this allowed him to continue to hear and compose his music. Incredible, isn't it? Later, with the evolution around this technology, it is the military which uses this technology. Indeed, bone conduction is particularly effective for tactical communication, since it allows to perceive the voice correctly while preserving spatial perception.

An essential tool for the hearing impaired

You can now wear a hearing aid and headphones. These headphones, using the principle of osteophony of bone conduction, may be suitable for certain hearing-impaired people (having an alteration of the auditory canal or deafness linked to sound transmission): indeed, unlike a normal headset placed on or in the ear and transmitting sound waves through the eardrum, bone conduction headphones will transmit sound directly to the cohlea.
